We’ve all seen them! Sweet family photos that come across well… awkward. Whether it’s choice of wardrobe, a silly pose, or some funky editing, sometimes the portraits we take with our loved ones don’t always turn out as planned.
Here are a few tips to make sure you get a shot that can be proudly displayed in your home (and not end up on the internet).
- Matching Outfits
You love your family. You want to show everyone who they are and that you are one unit. Coordinating what to wear is a great way to create a cohesive portrait that is visually appealing. Try to avoid wearing crazy patterns and logos and instead choose a color scheme that everyone will want to work with. Ultimately what you and your family decide to wear is up to you, but we want the focus of the portrait to be on your bright, smiling faces (and not on your clothes).
- Pets
Your furry friend is just as much a part of the family as anyone else and they should absolutely be included in your portrait! A professional photographer will help you set up a beautiful shot that includes your pet without letting them take the spotlight.
- Include Everyone
By hiring a professional photographer, you don’t have to worry about who will take the picture or who might be excluded. Everyone can be in the photo and you know you will end up with a high quality portrait. This dad clearly always keeps his family in his thoughts- and we wouldn’t want to leave anyone of them out!
